In our time, photographs do not belong to individuals anymore.
Social media giants such as Facebook, Instagram automatically own non-exclusive rights of all content their users publish on the website. As social media are a great part of people’s lives, the circulation of images become as important as, or even more than the creation of images.
The images presented here are images I uploaded on Instagram or found images from my friends on social media. The text, which deliberately un-credited, are quotes I collected from books, movies, radio and the internet.
The aim is to show the contemporary indifference or neglect towards authorship. More importantly, this project attempts to present a self-governing way of image circulation, to reuse images within a new context; rearrange de-authored images along with other images and text and create new meanings through the remediation.
